Job Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and excellent driving record or ability to provide independent authorized transportation
  • bachelor's degree in relevant field plus one year of related experience for Transportation Planner II
  • associate's degree for Transportation Planner I
  • experience may substitute for education
  • willingness to travel independently within Nebraska in fair weather
  • ability to visually verify and update road inventory details
  • competence in data entry and management

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in urban and regional planning, transportation planning, engineering technology, business, data science, physical sciences, geographic information systems, or a related field plus one year of related experience
  • experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
  • ability to analyze computer programs and understand their applications in transportation planning
  • effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • Travel in fair weather within the state while collecting roadway information
  • prepare data for submission to the Federal Highway Administration's Highway Performance Monitoring System
  • perform edits and updates within a digital spreadsheet with reliable file management
  • collect county inventory and lane mile reporting, including training with OnBase systems and municipal data collection
  • prepare data for public hearings, assist in inventories and functional class data ratings
  • perform other duties as assigned
