Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- no prior experience required
- valid driver’s license
- ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to be on call for emergencies
- willingness to complete all required training
- ability to use computer systems
- good communication and listening skills

- ability to function in stressful and urgent situations
- knowledge of state and national emergency facilities and notification methods
- familiarity with hazardous materials codes is a plus

Job Duties
- complete all required classroom and on-the-job training
- assist in monitoring real-time traffic data
- accurately locate incidents graphically on computers using verbal descriptions
- prepare logs and reports on traffic conditions and incident management
- assess congestion levels and incident severity and brief supervisors
- program and operate motorist information systems including DMS and HAR
- assist in monitoring CCTV systems, police scanners, and radio communications
- monitor and transmit communications between state and other agencies
- verify incidents and congestion using surveillance and data
- record weather and hazardous condition information
- monitor and relay emergency, traffic, safety and weather information
- receive traffic and incident data from GIS
- assist in monitoring Roadway Weather Information Systems and Environmental Sensor Stations
- maintain weather and road condition tapes for traffic advisory systems
- travel as required
