Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent
- Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification within two years of hire
- Valid and current driver's license
- Ability to operate a vehicle for state business with acceptable driving record
- Strong physical ability to work in field conditions
- Willingness to travel in-state overnight
- Successful completion of Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in civil engineering or equivalent degree
- Knowledge of project design processes and fundamental design concepts for roadways and bridges
- Familiarity with construction means, methods, standards, and specifications
- Understanding of design and construction contract administration
- Experience or coursework related to transportation systems and maintenance operations
- Skillful use of engineering and design software
- Ability to prepare cost estimates and work effectively in inclement weather
Job Duties
- Perform engineering duties related to project development, construction, and operations with supervisor oversight
- Design engineering plans and prepare project documentation
- Analyze data related to construction materials, safety, and specifications
- Prepare both design and construction cost estimates for projects
- Work in various weather conditions while performing field assignments
- Rotate through different assignments such as construction, project management, and design
- Utilize engineering and design software for project development
