Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Five or more years of experience in civil engineering
- Alaska PE license preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a typical office environment with computer use and sedentary tasks
- Willingness to perform fieldwork under varying weather conditions
- Eligibility to work full time
- Ability to travel as required
Job Qualifications
- Proficient in roadway and civil engineering project design including alignments, profiles, typical sections, site grading, and drainage
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience with MS Office programs, especially Word and Excel
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively in a team environment
Job Duties
- Serve as a technical specialist and consultant on transportation-related projects
- Assist project managers in preparing reports and developing project designs including plans, specifications, and estimates
- Identify and analyze principal design features and alternatives to meet project purpose and client needs
- Produce detailed and high-quality final design plans, specifications, and estimates following procedures and standards
- Peer review plans and conduct quality control reviews of technical specifications and contract documents
- Mentor junior staff in technical design, Autodesk Civil 3D, and project documentation
- Utilize recent experience in highway and aviation projects for the State of Alaska and local governments
