Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field
- Minimum 10 years of transportation construction experience
- Must be able to pass drug test
- Must pass physical examination
- Must pass background check
- Must maintain satisfactory driving record in accordance with company MVR policy
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to walk on uneven ground in variable outdoor conditions
- Willingness to work varying shifts depending on construction schedules
- Ability to travel frequently within Colorado and Western states
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor of science in civil engineering, construction management or related degree or equivalent extensive field experience
- Licensed professional engineer (PE) preferred
- Over 10 years of transportation construction related experience
- Relevant certifications are a plus
- Demonstrated understanding and hands-on experience with CDOT/DOT and CFLHD infrastructure projects
- Proficient in computer skills with ability to use One Note and AASHTOWare Project SiteManager software
- Experience in materials testing and inspection of earthwork, site grading, utilities, retaining walls, structural concrete, bridges, paving and pedestrian facilities
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state documentation and contract requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a project team environment
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively within Colorado and the Western United States
Job Duties
- Act as the owner’s representative on site for transportation construction projects
- Report project status, needs, and issues to the client engineer daily
- Coordinate daily with client/owner, contractors, subcontractors, public information officers, utilities, and other stakeholders
- Provide construction oversight and inspection on DOT/CFLHD and related transportation projects
- Perform inspection of civil engineering projects to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
- Review and approve requests for information, contractor certifications, contractor time reports, materials handling tickets, contractor payrolls, water quality plans and other submittals
- Interpret plans and specifications
- Review and process contractor change order requests
- Verify and document quantities and process contractor payment requests
- Identify non-conformance issues and assist in developing resolution plans
- Maintain thorough project documentation using client-specific software
- Complete final project documentation according to client’s processes
- Ensure all materials testing documentation is completed and submitted
- Manage Quality Assurance staff to assure proper coverage of contractor work
- Travel and work at construction sites in Colorado and the Western United States with provided travel, hotel, and per diem expenses
