Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Must obtain State of Montana Class B, Type 2 commercial driver’s license with no air brake restrictions and passenger endorsement within ninety days of employment
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must pass Federal and State criminal history background check
Must pass driving records check
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to perform physical demands including lifting up to 60 pounds
Ability to operate mobility device restraints, vehicle lifts, and ramps
Availability for variable work schedules and standby duty
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Strong interpersonal skills
Experience with city government and knowledge of city transit operations preferred
Two or more years of combined professional driving education and experience preferred

Job Duties

Safely and efficiently operate a transit system vehicle over designated routes and for special events according to schedule or manifest
Read, understand, and follow applicable schedules and routes
Utilize a mobile data terminal for trip manifests and transit related activities
Pick up, transfer, and discharge passengers in accordance with schedule times and trip manifest
Collect fares, verify pass eligibility, and assist passengers with fare related issues
Maintain operational records including passenger counts, pre-trip and post-trip records, and mileage
Report driving hazards, vandalism, and incidents encountered on route
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report problems
Clean interior and exterior of vehicles and facilities
Perform building and grounds maintenance duties including snow removal
Adhere to all applicable safety, security, and operational policies and regulations
Report for duty on short notice and maintain fitness for duty
Assist in training new employees
Greet passengers and maintain a friendly attitude
Attend to special transit needs of passengers including seniors and individuals with disabilities
Promote a positive public relations image
Provide accurate information to passengers and the public
Perform other duties as assigned
