Job Requirements
- Must possess a current DOT Medical Card
- must hold a North Carolina Class B CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements
- ability to maintain insurability
- must complete pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical
- must undergo background and driving history checks
- must have at least two years of increasing responsibility in safety training or related work
- preferred certifications include FTA Reasonable Suspicion Investigator and Drug and Alcohol Manager
- must be able to comply with department safety policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
- two years of experience in safety training, adult education, auto crash investigation or related field
- experience in transit preferred
- knowledge of safety training programs and adult learning principles
- ability to develop and deliver effective training sessions
- understanding of transit safety regulations and compliance
- strong organizational and communication skills
- ability to investigate and report accidents and safety incidents
- proficiency in coordinating with multiple stakeholders
Job Duties
- Assess employee and Transit Department safety and training needs
- coordinate, develop and monitor training programs
- evaluate training effectiveness
- develop, recommend and modify policies and procedures related to training and development
- prepare lesson plans and training materials
- conduct safety classes and train employees in transit vehicle operation and defensive driving
- enforce safety procedures and report violations
- develop and administer training evaluation processes
- document participant progress and recommend improvements
- coordinate with internal and external training sources
- inspect transit facilities and equipment for safety hazards
- report and ensure correction of safety hazards
- investigate transit-related accidents, incidents and injuries
- administer the department's Drug and Alcohol Program per USDOT regulations
- prepare and submit safety and security reports to internal and external agencies
- interact with City Safety Officer on personal safety equipment training
- serve as the department's Safety Officer
- review Workers' Compensation claim forms and coordinate with Risk Coordinator
