Job Requirements
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement
- acceptable driving record in accordance with City policies
- no specific education requirements
- ability to work in varying weather and traffic conditions
- ability to perform moderate physical activities such as sitting, bending, lifting, and reaching
- pass drug testing as required
- availability to work occasional hours beyond normal business times
- ability to handle stressful and volatile situations professionally
- maintain confidentiality of information
- willingness to participate in required training
- bilingual skills preferred
- previous experience driving transit vehicles preferred
Job Qualifications
- No specific education requirements
- valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement
- acceptable driving record per City policies
- strong communication and customer service skills
- ability to manage stressful situations with tact
- experience preferred in driving transit vehicles
- bilingual skills (English/Spanish) desirable
- ability to operate transit vehicles safely
- knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and safety practices
- ability to maintain accurate records and reports
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- proficient with computers and related software
Job Duties
- Provide services to users of the transit system
- drive and operate bus through all weather conditions
- ensure the comfort of passengers
- maintain order among customers and address volatile situations to ensure safety and security
- announce bus stops and provide fare and routing information
- explain passenger policies and procedures
- complete, submit, and file various reports including incident and accident reports
- perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance problems
- assist with data collection for transit planning and scheduling
- attend and complete all required training
- assist with conducting outreach activities
- demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and customer service
