Job Requirements
- Paramedic training required
- two years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience as paramedic
- valid CA paramedic license
- NREMT or paramedic certification preferred
- knowledge of medical terminology
- knowledge of EMTALA and related regulations
- knowledge of third-party payer requirements preferred
- advanced radio communication skills
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- excellent communication skills
- ability to remain calm and apply sound judgment
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Conducts initial telephone intake of information regarding patient transfer requests
- receives incoming calls and sets up teleconferences with medical teams
- operates multi-telephone lines, radio transmission and receiving consoles, and computer database systems
- partners with patient placement staff and physicians to identify appropriate receiving services
- develops and promotes positive customer service with patients, families, visitors and staff
- maintains database on referrals and hospital locations
- maintains interface with agencies for coordination of transport services
- responds to emergency transport calls and dispatches Life Flight medical crew
- monitors and interprets weather products and flight following systems
- documents patient progress and transfer reports
- coordinates mode of transport based on patient acuity
- maintains patient acceptance documentation in electronic medical records
