Job Requirements
- Paramedic training required
- Minimum two years of related work experience as paramedic
- California Paramedic license
- Ability to operate multi-line telephones and radio equipment
- Knowledge of emergency medical and transfer protocols
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Job Qualifications
- Paramedic training required
- Two years of progressively responsible work experience as paramedic
- CA Paramedic license required
- NREMT/Paramedic certification preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of EMTALA and related regulations
- Familiarity with third-party payer requirements preferred
- Advanced communication skills in emergency medical dispatch
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
- Effective speaking and writing abilities
Job Duties
- Conduct initial telephone intake for patient transfer requests
- Receive incoming calls and set up teleconferences with physicians, nurses, and transport staff
- Operate transfer center multi-line telephones, radio consoles, computer databases, and mapping systems
- Partner with patient placement staff and physicians to identify receiving services
- Develop and promote positive customer service with patients, families, staff
- Maintain databases on referrals and hospital locations
- Coordinate transport mode based on patient acuity and availability
- Monitor weather products and flight following systems
- Prepare and document reports on patient transfer status
