Job Requirements
- Frequent driving of tram
- standing, sitting, walking, bending, lifting, listening, keyboarding, speaking, and hearing for long periods
- ability to lift, push, and pull items up to 50 pounds
- ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
- ability to maintain professionalism and customer focus
- safety-oriented mindset
Job Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- valid Illinois driver’s license with a clean driving record and insurable status
- high school diploma or equivalent
- articulate with strong command of the English language
- bilingual Spanish is a plus
- at least one year experience in service or tour industry as a public speaker with ability to engage diverse audiences
- knowledge of and interest in horticulture preferred
- availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Train and safely transport visitors, staff, and volunteers aboard a 48-passenger open-air tram while delivering scripted 35-minute tours
- transport visitors, staff, and volunteers using various Garden vehicles such as vans and club cars
- adhere to Chicago Horticultural Society safety rules and regulations
- maintain the cleanliness and operating conditions of Garden vehicles
- support Garden attractions, exhibitions, and events, including ticket sales, barcode scanning, and line management
- stay knowledgeable about current Garden events, displays, and exhibitions and communicate this to visitors
- provide excellent customer service and work independently as well as part of a team
- maintain a professional appearance and demeanor on-site and in uniform
- work outdoors in various weather conditions
- assist Visitor Experience management as requested
