Job Requirements

  • Must be legally allowed to work in the United States
  • Must be over 21 years old
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Able to travel away from home base for up to 6 days at a time
  • Comply with onboard safety standards and emergency procedures
  • Adhere to food safety and HACCP regulations
  • Follow Onboard Safety Management System
  • Maintain accurate safety incident records

Job Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in hospitality or tourism management preferred or post-secondary with relevant certification and experience
  • Food Handling certification required
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification is an asset
  • Fluency in English required
  • Fluency in additional languages is an asset
  • Valid ID for domestic travel
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset
  • 5+ years of people leadership including 3+ years leading medium-sized teams
  • 5+ years’ experience in hospitality or tourism in guest-facing roles
  • Experience in luxury restaurant or hotel operations
  • Experience in safety alert or railroad environments is an asset
  • Skilled in creating and implementing business plans for multiple teams
  • Strategic decision-making abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM and web platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High physical endurance and emotional resilience
  • Polished leadership style with strong emotional intelligence

Job Duties

  • Make immediate decisions in a high-pressure environment impacting crew, guests and stakeholders
  • Facilitate execution of services through Guest Service Managers and encourage teamwork
  • Support onboard leadership in resolving and tracking guest issues
  • Drive growth and development of team members through recruitment, training, performance management and recognition
  • Foster a culture of service excellence and lead change management initiatives
  • Provide a safe and respectful workplace by building strong relationships with team members and partners
  • Participate in strategic company projects and assist in executing the annual Guest Experience Operating Plan
  • Understand rail operations, logistics and train movements to anticipate impact on service
  • Manage payroll, crew assignments, accommodations and inventory in line with budget
  • Deliver information relevant to guest experience and operations using appropriate communication channels
  • Partner with business units to ensure car cleanliness and mechanical performance
  • Monitor and manage food waste and supply adjustments with catering
  • Ensure safety, security and first aid for all crew and guests onboard
  • Coordinate emergency response with other departments
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and HACCP regulations
  • Adhere to Onboard Safety Management System policies
  • Maintain records of all safety incidents and near misses
