Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum five years progressive supervisory experience in public works or related projects
- Experience with traffic signs and pavement markings
- Acceptable background including criminal record and credit history
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Demonstrated leadership and training skills
- Strong safety orientation and ability to enforce standards
- Ability to operate in outdoor and traffic environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Effective communication with public and employees
- Proficiency with computer software used in transportation management
- Ability to obtain required traffic control certifications if not already held

- Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise maintenance personnel effectively

- Proven experience providing excellent customer service

- Experience preparing and monitoring budgets and financial reports
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all organizational levels
- Knowledge of Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices criteria
- Skill in reviewing and expanding engineering plans with practical considerations
- Proficiency with microcomputer systems and software including Access, Excel, Arc-View, CAD, Word, and digital imaging
- Familiarity with GIS asset management software
- Certification or ability to obtain International Municipal Signal Association Level Two Signs and Markings and American Traffic Safety Services Association Traffic Control Technician
- Valid Colorado driver’s license and clean driving record
Job Duties
- Manage maintenance operations related to installation, maintenance, operation, and upgrade of traffic signs and pavement markings
- Generate electronic work orders guided by the Transportation Operations Engineer
- Analyze condition and placement of traffic control devices and prioritize work plans
- Address public and employee concerns and mediate discussions
- Assist in executing annual street overlay projects including cost estimation and material distribution
- Solicit bids and manage contractors to ensure quality installation
- Coordinate with county, state, and private entities on signing or striping issues
- Supervise Sign Shop personnel including lead technician and maintenance staff
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance and provide training
- Develop and manage operating budgets and administer expenditures
- Order, purchase, and manage inventory of materials and equipment
- Participate in transportation operations management and policy setting
- Respond to claims related to traffic control devices and coordinate with City Attorney
- Ensure safety compliance and perform related duties as required
