Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or possession of GED, HiSET or TASC certificate
- One year of experience in traffic signal installation, construction, maintenance, or repair
- Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience
- Valid Driver's License at time of application
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL B) with endorsements required by end of probation
- Licenses and certifications must be current
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or possession of GED, HiSET or TASC certificate
- One year of experience in traffic signal installation, construction, maintenance, or repair
- Basic wiring and electrical skills
- Valid Driver's License
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL B) with appropriate endorsements by the end of probation
- Basic computer skills including MS Office
- Current IMSA Traffic Signal Level I Certification preferred but not required
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
Job Duties
- Complete general maintenance of traffic signals
- Learn on the job with senior technicians about monitoring and programming traffic signal timing controllers and make necessary adjustments under direction
- Use multi-meters to read voltage/ohms in the field and in the shop
- Work in all weather conditions performing wiring, splicing, phasing at intersections, concrete work, shoveling, caisson and conduit work
- Assist with installing, removing, and repairing signal control and auxiliary equipment including traffic signal controllers and cabinets
- Evaluate and assist with construction by interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Perform vehicle detection work involving walking behind concrete/pavement saw and air compressor
- Operate vehicles and conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Follow safety practices, monitor work environment for hazards, and maintain equipment for the crew
- Place and remove traffic control and safety devices around work areas for construction and maintenance projects
- Use Cartograph and MS Office Suite to log, record, and create daily work reports for management
- Assist with investigation of complaints and defective traffic signals
- Drive regular pickup and bucket trucks, operate skid steers and mini excavators
- operate CDL A vehicles if licensed
