Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions
- Must have own means of transportation
- Valid driver’s license required for operating a motor vehicle for county business
Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions
- Valid driver’s license and own means of transportation
- Previous work experience with Washington County Traffic Operations preferred
- Previous paid experience in temporary traffic control preferred
- Experience installing and repairing traffic control signs preferred
- Experience operating parking lot stripers, line removal equipment, thermal heaters, one-ton trucks, push mowers, weed whips, and impact drills preferred
- Ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
- Ability to document work activities accurately
- Commitment to safety and wearing prescribed protective equipment

Job Duties
- Performs general sign construction, installation, and maintenance, including installation, removal, cleaning, and straightening
- Assists in the set-up, maintenance, and removal of work zone traffic control in accordance with state and county standards, including placement of traffic cones, barrels, signs, barricades, flashers, delineators, temporary striping, tapes, and paints
- Wears correct work zone apparel as directed by supervisor
- Ensures work zone traffic control devices are kept clean and in good working order
- Installs highway pavement messages using various materials including marking material, retro-reflective glass beads, and templates
- Documents daily activities using timesheets, work orders, asset management, and inventory control systems
- Operates county vehicles for traffic operations including sedans, pickup trucks, one-ton trucks, message trucks, sign trucks, bucket trucks, and follow-up trucks
- Performs manual labor and operates equipment for traffic sign installation using tools such as hydraulic post pullers, drills, grinders, and saws
- Assists in duties of the Traffic Engineering and Traffic Operations Section
- Performs other duties as assigned
