Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- one year of general maintenance experience for entry level
- three years of traffic operations experience for mid level
- six years of traffic operations experience for journey level
- valid Colorado driver’s license with safe driving record
- ability to obtain required IMSA certification levels within specified timelines
- ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- physical ability to perform heavy work including lifting up to 100 pounds
- ability to work rotating on-call shifts, holidays, and overtime as required
- effective communication skills
- ability to follow safety and operational procedures
- willingness to participate in training and certification programs
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- one year general maintenance experience for Technician I
- three years traffic operations experience for Technician II
- six years traffic operations experience for Technician III
- valid Colorado driver’s license
- IMSA Signs and Markings I or IMSA Level I Traffic Signal certification within one year for Technician I
- IMSA Signs and Markings II or IMSA Level II Traffic Signal certification and ability to obtain Level I opposite category certification within 12 months for Technician II
- IMSA Signs and Markings III or IMSA Level III Traffic Signal certification, ability to obtain Level II opposite category certification within 12 months, Traffic Signal Inspector and Roadway Lighting Level I certifications desired for Technician III
- knowledge of City policies, safety procedures, traffic signal and control devices, purchasing policies, and leadership principles as applicable
Job Duties
- Install traffic signals, poles, cabinets, speed monitoring signs and flashers
- install, repair, and maintain street lights, traffic control signs, reflective markers, barricades
- fabricate specialty signs and install sign posts
- respond to incidents by installing devices, flagging traffic, road closures, diversions
- assist in traffic counts and studies
- maintain inventory of pre-made signs and sign fabricating equipment
- lay out, paint, tape and maintain pavement markings and parking lots
- recommend purchase items and complete daily reports
- operate equipment such as flatbed truck, aerial bucket trucks, paint striper, pavement grinder, air compressor, power washer, spray gun, sand blaster, torch, concrete saw, jack hammers, drill and hand tools
- participate in a rotating on-call team for emergency traffic-related issues
- respond to public inquiries and provide appropriate information
- lead or assist in traffic control device repairs, maintenance, and installations
- perform other duties as assigned
