- Must pass state and federal criminal history and security background checks
- Must complete Florida Department of Transportation fingerprint-based screening
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods while monitoring systems
- Ability to operate software platforms and web-based applications

- Previous experience in call center, customer service, 911 operator, or dispatching environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet high customer service expectations
- Ability to work calmly and professionally under pressure
- Experience with heavy telephone, radio, and computer usage
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to interpret geographic information and maps
- Knowledge of Florida interstates and state routes
- Efficient and accurate data entry skills
- Working knowledge of ATMS software and web-based applications
Job Duties
- Use software and applications to control and monitor Intelligent Transportation Systems devices along freeways
- Monitor camera video and other sources to detect and verify events impacting traffic flow and safety
- Log traffic events including lane and shoulder closures
- Dispatch Highway Emergency Response Operators for roadside services
- Provide accurate directions and descriptions of traffic events
- Monitor and update software-generated traffic response plans
- Monitor weather conditions and notify motorists and agencies
- Coordinate with FDOT signal personnel for traffic signal management
- Update FDOT's traveler information website
- Participate in training and follow operational procedures
- Perform routine updates of asset records and contact lists
- Communicate with road rangers, local agencies, law enforcement, and emergency services
- Answer phone inquiries from motorists, FDOT personnel, and agencies
- Document activities and communications clearly and concisely
