Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
  • Appointment as Transportation Officer or Traffic Management Officer by Installation Commander
  • Willingness to travel occasionally on military or commercial aircraft
  • Ability to work in warehouse or receiving areas intermittently
  • Must be able to complete a one-year supervisory probationary period if not previously met
  • Must comply with provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • This is a federally designated key position essential to wartime/contingency operations

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level
  • Comprehensive knowledge of traffic management principles, policies, and operations
  • Knowledge of DoD transportation systems and commercial carrier operations
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and customs import/export requirements
  • Experience with air terminal operations for cargo and passenger transportation
  • Knowledge of passenger travel entitlements and personal property shipment/storage
  • Understanding of contracting procedures for transportation services
  • Skill in planning, organizing, mentoring staff, and analyzing complex information
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance

Job Duties

  • Plans, organizes, supervises, and oversees the activities and employees of the Traffic Management Flight
  • Plans and directs all cargo movement traffic management functions and passenger travel and personal property shipment and storage activities for the installation and DoD assigned area of operation
  • Directs the small air terminal cargo and passenger operations
  • Provides technical direction, management, and evaluation of the transportation, traffic management, and unit movement aspects of the DoD transportation movement program on a worldwide basis
  • Represents the Traffic Management Flight with a variety of installation and functional area organizations
