Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required
- Males must be registered for Selective Service
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
- Appointment as Transportation Officer or Traffic Management Officer by Installation Commander
- Willingness to travel occasionally on military or commercial aircraft
- Ability to work in warehouse or receiving areas intermittently
- Must be able to complete a one-year supervisory probationary period if not previously met
- Must comply with provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- This is a federally designated key position essential to wartime/contingency operations
Job Qualifications
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level
- Comprehensive knowledge of traffic management principles, policies, and operations
- Knowledge of DoD transportation systems and commercial carrier operations
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and customs import/export requirements
- Experience with air terminal operations for cargo and passenger transportation
- Knowledge of passenger travel entitlements and personal property shipment/storage
- Understanding of contracting procedures for transportation services
- Skill in planning, organizing, mentoring staff, and analyzing complex information
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
Job Duties
- Plans, organizes, supervises, and oversees the activities and employees of the Traffic Management Flight
- Plans and directs all cargo movement traffic management functions and passenger travel and personal property shipment and storage activities for the installation and DoD assigned area of operation
- Directs the small air terminal cargo and passenger operations
- Provides technical direction, management, and evaluation of the transportation, traffic management, and unit movement aspects of the DoD transportation movement program on a worldwide basis
- Represents the Traffic Management Flight with a variety of installation and functional area organizations
