Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience in traffic management or a related field preferred
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with traffic management software and devices

Job Duties

  • Monitor and control traffic management devices such as CCTV and Dynamic Message Signs across Davidson County highways
  • Support communications with first responders, emergency management, and law enforcement
  • Detect and report traffic incidents
  • Dispatch service patrols and assist first responders
  • Notify the public about traffic conditions and incidents
  • Handle calls from various persons, organizations, and agencies
  • Create and submit work orders for equipment failures or malfunctions
  • Use software to control ITS field devices, monitor traffic flow, and perform data analysis
  • Ensure accuracy in data submissions, logs, reports, and documentation
  • Provide guidance to responders and motorists during severe traffic events
  • Post alerts, notifications, and messages as needed
  • Assist in coordinating responses to disasters and high-profile roadway events
  • Perform other related duties as directed
