Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education or equivalent
  • one year experience in traffic, construction, plumbing or HVAC work preferred
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to work 24-hour shifts during inclement weather or emergencies
  • willing to accept a salary within the range of $41,231 to $43,292.55
  • ability to lift 75 lbs without assistance
  • ability to operate equipment with a weight capacity of 350 lbs
  • Monday through Friday work schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand written instructions, simple processes and the routine operation of machines
  • ability to read ordinances, maps, work orders, and blueprints
  • ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • able to create and complete work orders
  • one year experience in traffic, construction, plumbing or HVAC work preferred

Job Duties

  • Administers pavement markings projects by loading materials into thermo kettle and other various trucks
  • sweeps work area, prepares markings, sets up thermo machines, traffic cones and barricades in accordance with the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual
  • operates forklift, thermoplastic hand liner and eradication machines for pavement marking installation and removal
  • installs repairs and maintains signs by drilling, digging, riveting, hammering, grinding, banding, bolting, cementing and driving posts and/or poles, removing poles
  • performs other duties by inspecting and maintaining equipment and vehicles
  • investigates requirements for signs, crosswalks, lane lines, arrows or other markings, retrieving, loading and unloading safety devices for special events and providing information to motorists and pedestrians
