Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in trade compliance or customs compliance with an international importer
  • Thorough knowledge of HTS codes, COO rules, international trade laws, and customs regulations
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex compliance problems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness to stay current on regulatory and trade compliance updates

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in international trade compliance, logistics, or customs compliance for an importer
  • Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Codes, Country of Origin, international trade regulations, local customs requirements, and Free Trade Agreements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with logical troubleshooting abilities
  • Organized and detail oriented with ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Professionalism, diplomacy, discretion, and good judgment
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Expertise with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Job Duties

  • Work cross functionally with the supply chain to proactively collect compliance information from suppliers
  • Act as subject matter expert and determine HTS, COO, and ECCN for nVent parts and assist with customs related issues
  • Handle trade data within ERP to certify goods for applicable trade promotion or preferential origin programs
  • Review primarily import, and at times export, filings for accuracy and track findings
  • Work closely with nVent designated brokers to assist with clearance of import shipments
  • Guide/advise in-house logistics team around operational execution of importing goods to ensure peak service performance, cost competitiveness, and legal compliance
  • Remain current on relevant regulatory materials and government guidance to provide interpretation and management advice
  • Prepare compliance certifications to customers on behalf of the company
  • Align with business resources and functional teams to implement business-level controls and monitor adherence to policies for compliant import and export transactions
  • Oversee tariff, duty, and trade agreement compliance including research and reporting on changes
  • Participate in trade compliance associations to stay current on trade regulations
  • Assist management in mitigating risks
  • Lead all import transactions and administrative government programs to ensure timely and compliant processing
  • Oversee and review import documentation management systems
