Job Requirements
- Must possess a valid State driver’s license at time of employment
- Must possess or be able to obtain within one year of employment a National Wildland Fire Coordinating Group (NWCG) Firefighter, Type II (FFT2) certification
- Must be able to pass the Wildland Fire Work Capacity Test at the Moderate physical fitness level within one year of employment
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience

- Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience
- Knowledge of general facility, equipment and grounds maintenance techniques and repairs
- Knowledge of general custodial duties
- Knowledge of accounting and accountability of revenue collection
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, janitorial and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks
- Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Skill in effective verbal and written communication
- Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and contacts
- Skill in making independent, sound and timely decisions
- Skill in using hand and power tools, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, tractors, vehicles, generators and other mechanical equipment
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
- Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple changing priorities
- Ability to assist with interpreting and enforcing park rules and regulations
- Ability to perform manual labor including lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs
- Ability to conduct work activities according to TPWD safety program
Job Duties
- Perform complex building maintenance and construction work including repairs and upkeep to facilities, buildings, equipment and grounds at Palo Duro Canyon State Park
- Clean cabins, restrooms and grounds and maintain their condition
- Assist other staff with park maintenance functions necessary to meet public expectations
- Follow purchasing procedures for acquisition of supplies, tools and equipment
- Act as a wildland fire crew member supporting prescribed fire implementation and wildfire response
- Comply with all agency, division and branch rules, regulations and procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
