Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience
- Must possess a valid state driver's license at time of employment
- Must possess or obtain NWCG Firefighter, Type II (FFT2) certification within one year
- Must be able to pass the Wildland Fire Work Capacity Test at the Moderate physical fitness level within one year
- Retention of position contingent on maintaining required license and physical requirements
- Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs
- Must work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must be able to work non-standard hours, respond to emergencies and on-call situations
- Ability to travel 10% with possible overnight stays
- Compliance with TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience
- Skill in using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to provide quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships
- Ability to make independent, sound, and timely decisions
- Knowledge of general maintenance techniques including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, janitorial, and mechanical repairs
- Experience working with the public
- Current NWCG Firefighter Type II (FFT2) certification preferred
Job Duties
- Perform complex building maintenance and construction work including all phases of maintenance and repair to facilities, buildings, equipment, and grounds
- Clean and maintain cabins, restrooms, and park grounds
- Assist other staff with park maintenance functions to meet public expectations and visitor needs
- Follow purchasing procedures for supplies, tools, and equipment
- Act as a wildland fire crew member in prescribed fire implementation and wildfire response
- Work under general supervision using initiative and independent judgment
- Comply with all agency, division, and branch rules, regulations, and procedures
