Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license at time of employment
  • Must possess or obtain NWCG Firefighter, Type II (FFT2) certification within one year
  • Must be able to pass the Wildland Fire Work Capacity Test at the Moderate physical fitness level within one year
  • Retention of position contingent on maintaining required license and physical requirements
  • Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs
  • Must work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must be able to work non-standard hours, respond to emergencies and on-call situations
  • Ability to travel 10% with possible overnight stays
  • Compliance with TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience
  • Skill in using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships
  • Ability to make independent, sound, and timely decisions
  • Knowledge of general maintenance techniques including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, janitorial, and mechanical repairs
  • Experience working with the public
  • Current NWCG Firefighter Type II (FFT2) certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Perform complex building maintenance and construction work including all phases of maintenance and repair to facilities, buildings, equipment, and grounds
  • Clean and maintain cabins, restrooms, and park grounds
  • Assist other staff with park maintenance functions to meet public expectations and visitor needs
  • Follow purchasing procedures for supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Act as a wildland fire crew member in prescribed fire implementation and wildfire response
  • Work under general supervision using initiative and independent judgment
  • Comply with all agency, division, and branch rules, regulations, and procedures
