Job Requirements
- graduation from high school or GED
- three years of facility equipment or grounds maintenance experience
- possession of a valid state driver’s license at time of employment
- ability to obtain NWCG Firefighter Type II certification within one year of employment
- ability to pass the Wildland Fire Work Capacity Test at moderate level within one year
- ability to perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 pounds
- willingness to work varied hours including weekends holidays and emergency situations
- ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- willingness to travel up to 10% of time with possible overnight stays
- compliance with TPWD dress grooming safety and work rules
Job Qualifications

- ability to obtain NWCG Firefighter Type II certification within one year of employment
- knowledge of general maintenance techniques and repairs
- ability to use hand and power tools mowers trimmers chain saws tractors vehicles generators and other mechanical equipment
- skill in MS Word Excel and Outlook
- effective verbal and written communication skills
- ability to provide quality customer service
- ability to work independently and as a team member
- ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs
- capability to meet physical fitness requirements for wildland fire duties
Job Duties
- perform complex journey-level building maintenance and construction work including maintenance and repair to facilities buildings equipment and grounds at Palo Duro Canyon State Park
- clean cabins restrooms and grounds ensuring upkeep and maintenance
- assist other staff with park maintenance to meet public expectations and visitor needs
- follow purchasing procedures for supplies tools equipment and other necessary items
- act as a wildland fire crew member in prescribed fire implementation and wildfire response
- comply with all agency rules regulations and procedures
- operate tools and mechanical equipment safely and effectively
