Job Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs frequently
- Comfortable working in hot and cold environments
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours
- Follow company standards regarding uniform, grooming, and behavior
- Attend all required meetings and training
- Comply with proper time clock and attendance standards
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and health regulations including DOH requirements
- Ability to correctly answer a minimum of 70 percent of a monthly 10-question quiz about menu knowledge, ingredients, techniques, and tools
- Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and employees
- Be familiar with hotel layout and locations
- Practice guest first mentality
- Know locations of fire extinguishers and how to use them
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction
- Follow safe work practices
- Report faulty equipment immediately
- Maintain clean as you go policy
- Maintain friendly and professional demeanor
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Multitask and prioritize duties to meet deadlines
- Demonstrate initiative and teamwork
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a professional culinary setting preferably in a hotel or banquet environment
- Beneficial but not required to have ServSafe certification or a valid New York Food Handler’s License
- Ability to stand for the full duration of shift
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs frequently
- Comfortable working in both hot and cold kitchen environments
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
Job Duties
- Prepare food items across various kitchen outlets and banquet events as per standardized recipes and culinary leadership direction
- Adapt to working multiple kitchen stations including hot, cold, grill, fry, sauté
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and safety
- Assist in kitchen inventory management and ordering processes
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations including Department of Health requirements
- Collaborate with other culinary team members to support banquet preparation and event timelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
