Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in tourism, public relations, business administration, hotel/restaurant management, marketing, journalism, or a related program
  • One year of experience in a tourist development setting such as a visitors and convention bureau or a destination management organization or any equivalent combination of related training and experience
  • Applicants within six months of meeting the minimum education/experience requirement may be considered for trainee status
  • Valid Florida Driver License
  • Motor Vehicle Record compliant with Alachua County policy number 6-7
  • No more than three moving traffic infractions or three at-fault motor vehicle accidents in the past 24 months
  • Must pass all applicable background checks pre-hire and ongoing
  • Ability to work during emergency and disaster declarations
  • Physical ability to perform job duties including occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Proficiency in computer hardware and software related to job functions

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in tourism, public relations, business administration, hotel or restaurant management, marketing, journalism, or related field
  • One year of experience in tourist development or equivalent training and experience
  • Valid Florida Driver License
  • Proven success with Google Ads campaigns
  • Expertise in paid social media advertising
  • Professional management of brand social accounts
  • WordPress proficiency
  • Strong Constant Contact skills
  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports
  • Excellent copywriting skills
  • Knowledge of SEO and demonstrated improvement in search rankings

Job Duties

  • Manage the official VisitGainesville.com website and maintain engaging content
  • Elevate SEO performance through strategic initiatives
  • Implement and oversee social media strategy and advertising campaigns
  • Write and produce appealing and clear marketing content
  • Track, analyze, and report on the performance of digital channels
  • Coordinate with media scouts for film and television production site opportunities
  • Conduct direct marketing efforts, including telemarketing and participation in trade shows
