Job Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of Asian cuisine including Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Mandarin, and Korean
  • Knowledge of wok cookery and sushi production
  • Compliance with state sanitation and health regulations
  • Ability to maintain workstation cleanliness and organization
  • Skilled in following recipes and yield guides
  • Effective communication skills for teamwork and reporting
  • Willingness to attend training programs and meetings

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the culinary field required
  • Journeyman's papers or international equivalent an asset
  • Diploma or certification in a culinary discipline an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous

Job Duties

  • Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of work areas
  • Assist in creating new Asian cuisine items for specials and new menus
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
  • Use kitchen equipment correctly and ensure proper maintenance
  • Monitor food storage and label all items appropriately
  • Set up workstation with required mise en place, tools, and supplies
  • Communicate with supervisors about shortages and assistance needed
  • Attend designated meetings
  • Perform duties in other kitchen areas as assigned
