Job Requirements
- Basic knowledge of Asian cuisine including Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Mandarin, and Korean
- Knowledge of wok cookery and sushi production
- Compliance with state sanitation and health regulations
- Ability to maintain workstation cleanliness and organization
- Skilled in following recipes and yield guides
- Effective communication skills for teamwork and reporting
- Willingness to attend training programs and meetings
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in the culinary field required
- Journeyman's papers or international equivalent an asset
- Diploma or certification in a culinary discipline an asset
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible and reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Ability to focus on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous
Job Duties
- Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of work areas
- Assist in creating new Asian cuisine items for specials and new menus
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
- Use kitchen equipment correctly and ensure proper maintenance
- Monitor food storage and label all items appropriately
- Set up workstation with required mise en place, tools, and supplies
- Communicate with supervisors about shortages and assistance needed
- Attend designated meetings
- Perform duties in other kitchen areas as assigned
