Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in a similar work environment preferred
  • free of communicable diseases
  • ability to follow infection control and safety procedures
  • physical ability to lift and carry 35 to 50 pounds
  • ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods
  • able to operate laundry and housekeeping equipment
  • willingness to work Monday through Friday with every other weekend
  • ability to communicate in English
  • must be able to safeguard residents’ health information
  • must attend staff meetings and trainings as required

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or laundry preferred

Job Duties

  • Observe waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy
  • empty wastebaskets and transport trash to disposal areas
  • assist in the proper care and use of housekeeping equipment
  • identify and report any malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
  • identify safety hazards and emergency situations
  • report any observed area in poor repair to supervisor
  • keep storage areas and wheeled carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
  • carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts
  • replenish supplies such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and other housekeeping supplies
  • make any necessary linen changes
  • prevent the spread of infection through proper handling, storage, washing, and transporting of all garments and linens
  • operate, load, and remove articles into washers and dryers
  • operate an automated laundry solution dispensing system
  • sort and remove articles from washers and dryers
  • hang, fold, and stack garments and linens
  • distribute clothes to resident’s rooms without error
  • return clean linen to linen closets and mobile racks to ensure adequate supply
  • report any garments or linens in ill repair to social services
  • work cooperatively with residents, families, volunteers, visitors, and staff
  • comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
  • operate computers programmed with software needed to record, store, and analyze resident information
  • perform other related duties as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor
