Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work independently and follow through with deadlines
  • Able to work Monday - Friday, with weekends and holidays as needed

  • Availability to work from July through mid November, with date flexibility
  • Valid CA Driver's License
  • Currently enrolled in a four-year college or university

  • Physical ability to perform frequent lifting and outdoor fieldwork

Job Duties

  • Inspecting and sampling tomato fields at peak maturity
  • Inspecting maturity counts on different tomato varieties to determine harvest dates
  • Inspecting peel samples of red tomatoes to assess quality
  • Documenting sampled product for maturity verification
  • Submitting samples to the QC lab for analysis and performing data analysis
  • Driving a company issued car daily to assigned work areas
  • Traveling overnight off-site as required
  • Supporting daily operations and data collection for the olive Field Department
  • Visiting orchards to inspect crops and conditions
  • Entering and organizing field and lab data
  • Maintaining and preparing departmental documentation and reports
  • Working closely with field staff and managers on projects
  • Collecting fruit samples following standard procedures
  • Coordinating sample submissions and retrieving analysis results from external labs
  • Evaluating orchards for conditions including canopy, fruit set, irrigation, pests, and diseases
  • Documenting findings with structured notes and reports
  • Assisting with field mapping and orchard boundary updates
  • Inputting scouting, sampling, inventory, and trial data into relevant systems
  • Helping establish and monitor field trials across orchards
  • Recording trial data like yield, canopy metrics, and imagery per standardized methods
  • Contributing to piloting and updating SOPs and internal processes
  • Other duties as assigned
