Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • minimum 5-7 years kitchen management experience
  • proven ability to control costs and manage budgets
  • current Food Handler's card
  • ability to obtain sanitation certification
  • strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • professional presentation
  • excellent communication and organizational skills
  • ability to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations
  • experience with food inventory and purchasing

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years kitchen management experience in a full service restaurant or events venue
  • demonstrated track record of meeting projected costs
  • professional appearance and presentation
  • skilled in using MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • experience with employee scheduling in hospitality
  • certification or ability to obtain in a nationally recognized sanitation program
  • technical proficiency in food preparation methods
  • ability to interact positively with diverse personalities
  • skill in training, evaluating and motivating staff
  • ability to help others develop job skills
  • ability to delegate responsibility effectively

Job Duties

  • Manage, develop and mentor part-time culinary employees including hiring, firing and disciplining
  • ensure event staff understand workplace expectations and provide ongoing training and mentoring
  • achieve budgeted food cost percentages through portion control, inventory management, and purchasing procedures
  • control labor costs via effective scheduling and cross-training employees
  • ensure food purchasing and preparation meet company quality and consistency standards
  • develop menus maintaining quality and style
  • monitor food production including recipe specifications and kitchen timings
  • ensure food appearance, temperature and sanitation standards
  • supervise line setup, prep and breakdown activities
  • delegate tasks during service
  • coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance and repairs
  • manage catering delivery and setup
  • arrange staff training and orientation
  • build morale and empower kitchen staff
  • maintain positive and compliant employee relations
  • handle staffing, training, evaluation and counseling
  • promote communication and teamwork across staff
  • interact positively with front of house staff
  • solve problems rapidly
  • ensure compliance with health, sanitation, safety and employment regulations
  • maintain kitchen records and food inventories
  • organize staff schedules and ensure uniform compliance
