Job Requirements
- Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Have good moral character as determined by investigation
- Complete criminal history disclosure form approved by appointing authority
- Agree to release all records involving criminal history
- Supply a fingerprint sample as prescribed by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation
- Not have conviction or plea of guilty, nolo contendere to any felony or related violations
- Not be discharged under dishonorable conditions from U.S. armed forces
- Pass physical examination administered by a licensed physician consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Pass psychological evaluation administered by licensed mental health professional
- Successfully complete prescribed department-approved training course
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Maintain a clean driving record without DUI, reckless driving, license suspension, or more than four moving violations in past five years

- Pass a psychological evaluation consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Possess knowledge of clerical operations, Microsoft Office, geography, customer service, and telecommunications
- Demonstrate skills in active learning, critical thinking, reading comprehension, speaking, and writing
- Exhibit abilities in verbal and written communication, deductive reasoning, memorization, oral and written comprehension and expression
- Familiarity with standard office equipment, dispatch CAD system, two-way radios, and law enforcement databases
Job Duties
- Monitor location and status of field law enforcement personnel by two-way radio
- Dispatch additional law enforcement personnel to assist with handling situations and emergencies
- Operate and monitor statewide emergency teletype and radio communication systems
- Receive and evaluate notifications of emergency or disaster situations
- Notify relevant agencies or individuals to handle emergencies
- Monitor alerts regarding stolen vehicles, wanted persons, or terrorist watch lists
- Monitor CAD for unit emergency alarms and dispatch backup when necessary
- Receive and transmit law enforcement information via telephone, teletype, and radio
- Provide motorist, general, and emergency assistance and public information
- Complete required reports and documentation within established time frames
