Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in hotel maintenance engineering
- Supervisory or management experience in maintenance field
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Physical ability to perform essential job functions including bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders
- Hearing and visual acuity to detect emergency conditions
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
- Willingness to work in extreme temperature conditions
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance engineering principles and practices
- Ability to prepare budgets and manage projects
- Experience with safety programs and emergency procedures

- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Service-oriented with exceptional customer service skills
- Prior hotel maintenance engineering and supervisory or management experience
- Ability to communicate in English
- Ability to perform physical tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, standing, and sitting for long durations
- Visual and hearing ability to detect emergencies
- Ability to grasp, lift, or move goods up to 100 lbs
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders quickly
- Ability to work within extreme temperature ranges
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance engineering field and supervisory and management capabilities
Job Duties
- Maintain exterior of building, parking lot, and common areas, and equipment in guest rooms and employee areas
- Manage and verify completion of routine maintenance and operation of all hotel physical structures and systems including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, phone, internet, audio, surveillance, and related equipment
- Respond quickly to emergencies
- Assign work orders to staff and monitor progress and results
- Visually inspect quality of work and direct staff and outside contractors according to performance and productivity standards
- Plan, prepare, and monitor special projects
- Conduct monthly safety inspections and staff trainings on safety and emergency procedures
- Oversee hotel safety and green programs including proper trash removal and recycling
- Co-chair hotel Safety Committee and facilitate Quality Assurance Committee
- Manage all life and safety systems including fire, elevators, emergency lighting and generating systems
- Supervise engineering staff including hiring, training, scheduling, payroll, coaching and performance evaluations
- Manage remodeling projects and capital expenditure needs including budgeting, contracting, tracking progress and costs
- Communicate with city/town/county officials to maintain permits and licenses
- Act as liaison between hotel and vendors to review technology and monitor energy conservation programs
- Maintain communication with other hotel departments
