Job Requirements

  • Possess a positive, outgoing and friendly personality
  • Ability to follow the OVI standards of presentation, body language, and verbiage
  • Legal ability to work in the US
  • Minimum 3 years experience as restaurant manager or assistant manager in fine establishment
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Excellent people skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English with guests and staff
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics and use point-of-sale programming
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work productively with other departments
  • Maintain professional appearance, behavior, integrity, and openness
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and delegate
  • Active role in safety and emergency procedures
  • Ability to handle problems professionally and communicate solutions
  • Able to remain calm in demanding customer situations

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a restaurant manager or assistant restaurant manager in fine establishments
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong financial acumen including knowledge of cost control and accounting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Food & Beverage point-of-sale systems
  • Knowledge of fine service standards and special event planning
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience in luxury resort hospitality preferred
  • Motivational skills and ability to maintain cohesive teams
  • Understanding of Total Quality Management processes
  • Previous experience handling guest relations and complaints

Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain an elegantly appointed environment with superior staff
  • Hire, train, supervise and discipline all restaurant staff
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa's management style, practices, and philosophy
  • Exhibit a hands-on approach to training and employee development
  • Fulfill responsibilities of the Manager on Duty program
  • Control reservations and seating in the restaurant
  • Prepare staff schedules to control labor costs and overtime
  • Communicate with the Chef to discuss menus and guest feedback
  • Ensure a safe working environment for Food & Beverage employees
  • Conduct performance evaluations and maintain daily communication logs
  • Promote good public relations and handle guest complaints
  • Manage food and beverage inventory and oversee point-of-sale systems
  • Respond effectively to emergencies
  • Organize and direct contracted functions and events
  • Maintain adherence to Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s quality and service standards
