Job Requirements

  • Possess a positive, outgoing and friendly personality

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a restaurant manager or assistant restaurant manager in a fine establishment
  • Thorough knowledge of fine service, cost control in food and beverage, labor controls, special-event planning and execution, menu writing, maintenance, merchandising and accounting
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain an elegantly appointed environment for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in restaurant, room service, banquet, and outside catering environments
  • Hire, train, supervise and discipline all restaurant staff
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa's management philosophy, culture, and practices
  • Exhibit a hands-on approach to training and developing employees while maintaining an open-door policy
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of the Manager on Duty program
  • Prepare clear correspondence, reports, and memos
  • Control departmental profit through scheduling, purchasing, and cash management
  • Ensure adherence to Human Resource policies and legal compliance
  • Manage reservations and seating to maintain service standards
  • Communicate effectively with the Chef regarding menus, marketing strategies, and guest feedback
  • Ensure a safe and professional working environment
  • Conduct performance evaluations and staff meetings
  • Handle all inventory and POS operations
  • Respond effectively to guest concerns and emergency situations
  • Oversee the set-up and service of contracted functions and events
  • Maintain high standards of staff appearance, behavior, and service techniques
  • Organize and execute last-minute changes to functions with coordination among teams
  • Promote positive public relations and guest satisfaction
  • Work productively with other operating departments as part of a cohesive team.
