Job Requirements

Minimum two years hosting experience preferably in hotel or upscale establishment
Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
Ability to lift 15-45 lbs
Ability to stand for 6-8 hours per shift
Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
Legal ability to work in the US
High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent verbal and written English communication
Positive attitude and professional appearance
Ability to work weekends and holidays
Physical stamina for prolonged standing and walking
Ability to handle difficult customer situations calmly and courteously

Job Qualifications

Possess a positive, outgoing, and friendly personality
Ability to follow resort standards of presentation, grooming, body language, and verbiage
High school graduate
Excellent English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking
Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
Strong people skills and ability to communicate effectively
Basic mathematical skills
Ability to prioritize and organize work
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of hospitality industry practices and guest relations
Knowledge of Ojai Valley Inn's philosophy and policies
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of guest information
Excellent problem-solving and motivational skills
Pleasant telephone communication skills
Previous experience with reservation systems preferred

Job Duties

Greet and seat guests in a friendly and unobtrusive manner
Manage reservation book and confirm upcoming reservations
Attend and participate in required meetings
Ensure cleanliness and presentation of host stand and dining areas
Assist guests with inquiries and handle complaints professionally
Monitor the dining environment to anticipate and meet guest needs
Coordinate with restaurant and resort staff to promote teamwork and efficient service
