Job Duties

  • Prepares and bakes bread, cakes, pies, pastries, or similar
  • Mixes and proofs doughs or batters, bakes according to directions or recipes, and decorates if required
  • Cleans and sanitizes cooking tools or utensils or food preparation areas
  • Maintains equipment and appliances
  • follows appropriate food safety and handling policies
  • May clean and sanitize mixers, bowls, pans, ovens, and or other materials used for baking purposes or storage of baked goods
  • Regularly monitor color of products being baked and make adjustments to oven temperatures and other settings to achieve the correct baking level
  • Makes certain that bakery products are safely handled and stored in a sanitized manner
  • Processes specialty orders for customers, which includes decorating cakes and other bakery items as requested
  • Check to ensure that baking equipment complies with health and safety regulations
  • Tracks and records inventory
  • rotates stock of bakery items, to ensure freshness of products and changes price labels as directed
