  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Perform a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring appropriate and courteous interaction
  • Provide guests with information about Benihana foods as they are being cooked or upon inquiry
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Ask guests for cooking preference and follow instructions
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using kitchen equipment
  • Perform shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
  • Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen and cooking areas and report equipment or maintenance issues
  • Comply with food portioning, cooking methods, and quality standards
  • Prepare foods according to portion standards including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
  • Adhere to proper food presentation and garnishes
  • Handle, store, label and rotate foods in accordance with health safety laws and FIFO method
  • Use knives and utensils to portion and prepare food
  • Adhere to alcoholic beverage service guidelines
  • Present a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner
  • Notify manager on duty of guest dissatisfaction or accidents
  • Participate in guest special occasion celebrations and photography
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
