Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Must be able to perform cooking shows and entertain guests
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen areas
  • Must comply with food safety and portioning standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills and guest interaction abilities

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Provides guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiry
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preferences and follows instructions
  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using kitchen equipment
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units and floors
  • Maintains kitchen, teppan cooking areas, and equipment clean and organized
  • Reports any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues
  • Complies with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, and recipes
  • Prepares foods according to portion standards and recipes including battering and seasoning
  • Adheres to guidelines on proper food presentation and garnishes
  • Stores, labels, and rotates foods following health and safety laws and FIFO method
  • Uses knives and tools to prepare food for dining
  • Adheres to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Presents a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner with guests
  • Notifies manager on duty when guests are unsatisfied or accidents occur
  • Participates in guest special occasion celebrations and may take photographs
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
