Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to successfully complete Benihana chef training program
  • Prior experience as a chef or cook preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and company standards
  • Ability to engage with guests in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including standing for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as a chef or cook highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage and entertain guests
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and interactive environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and portion standards
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Provides guests with information about Benihana foods
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using kitchen equipment
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas
  • Maintains kitchen, cooking areas, and equipment ensuring cleanliness and organization
  • Complies with food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes, and company policies
  • Prepares foods according to portions and recipe specifications including battering and marinating
  • Adheres to guidelines on food presentation and garnishes
  • Handles, stores, labels, rotates foods properly following food safety regulations
  • Uses knives, hand tools, utensils, and equipment for food preparation
  • Adheres to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Presents a clean and neat appearance and uses courteous manner with guests
  • Notifies management immediately if guests are not satisfied or if accidents occur
  • Participates in ensuring guest special occasion celebrations are memorable
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
