  • Previous experience as a chef or cook highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Perform a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Provide guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiry
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Ask guests for cooking preferences and follow instructions
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using kitchen equipment
  • Perform shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units and floors
  • Maintain kitchen, teppan cooking areas, equipment, and food storage areas clean, sanitary and organized
  • Report any equipment or maintenance issues to the chief chef or manager on duty
  • Comply with company standards on food portioning, methods, quality standards, recipes and service cycle
  • Prepare foods according to company portion standards, including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
  • Adhere to company guidelines on food presentation and garnishes
  • Properly handle, store, label, and rotate foods in compliance with health safety and local laws
  • Use knives, tools and equipment to portion, cut, slice, and produce food for the dining room
  • Follow company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Present a clean and neat appearance and use a courteous manner with guests
  • Notify manager on duty immediately if guests are not satisfied or if an accident occurs
  • Participate in making guest special occasion celebrations memorable
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
