Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • successful completion of Benihana chef training program
  • willingness to engage with and entertain guests
  • ability to prepare a variety of foods using kitchen equipment
  • adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • strong communication and guest service skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • successful completion of Benihana chef training program
  • previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • readily provides guests with information about Benihana foods as they are being cooked or upon guest inquiries
  • responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
  • prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using kitchen equipment
  • performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
  • maintains kitchen, teppan cooking areas, kitchen equipment and ensures food storage areas are clean, sanitary and organized
  • reports maintenance issues
  • complies with Company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes, service cycle, policies and procedures
  • prepares foods according to company portion standards and recipe specifications
  • adheres to guidelines on food presentation and garnishes
  • handles, stores, labels, and rotates foods properly following public health safety laws
  • uses knives and tools to portion, cut, slice, julienne, whip, beat, maintain holding temperature, chill, freeze or otherwise prepare food
  • adheres to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • presents a clean and neat appearance and uses courteous manner with guests
  • notifies manager on duty if guests are not satisfied or if accidents occur
  • participates in special occasion celebrations and may photograph or be photographed with guests
  • performs other duties as assigned
