Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Ability to engage and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to cooking, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen areas
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and portioning standards
  • Ability to follow established recipes and cooking procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Perform a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring appropriate and courteous interaction with guests
  • Provide guests with information about menu items while cooking or upon inquiry
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Ask guests for cooking preferences and follow their instructions
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using kitchen equipment
  • Perform shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts, and floors
  • Maintain kitchen, teppan cooking areas, equipment, and food storage areas clean, sanitary, and organized
  • Comply with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes, and service
  • Prepare foods according to portion standards including battering, breading, seasoning, and marinating
  • Ensure proper food presentation and garnishes
  • Handle, store, label, and rotate foods in compliance with health safety laws
  • Use knives, hand tools, and equipment to prepare food
  • Adhere to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Present a clean and neat appearance with courteous manner
  • Notify manager on duty of guest dissatisfaction or accidents
  • Participate in special occasion celebrations and photography when requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned
