Job Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
- Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
- Ability to entertain and engage guests
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Job Duties
- Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
- Perform a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring appropriate and courteous interaction with guests
- Provide guests with information about Benihana foods as needed
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
- Ask guests for cooking preferences and follow guest instructions
- Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using kitchen equipment
- Perform shift opening and closing duties including cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
- Maintain kitchen, teppan cooking areas, kitchen equipment and food storage areas clean, sanitary and organized
- Report any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the chief chef or manager on duty
- Comply with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes, storyboards, service cycle, policies and procedures
- Prepare foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
- Adhere to company guidelines on food presentation and garnishes
- Handle, store, label and rotate foods properly following public health safety standards and FIFO method
- Use knives, hand tools, utensils and equipment to prepare food
- Adhere to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
- Present a clean and neat appearance and use courteous manner with guests
- Notify manager on duty immediately if guests are not satisfied or if an accident occurs
- Participate in ensuring guest special occasion celebrations are memorable
- Perform other duties assigned by a supervisor
