Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Able to engage guests with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Capable of performing under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must comply with health and safety regulations
  • Able to stand and perform physical duties for extended periods

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of chef training program at Benihana
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Provides guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiry
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
  • Prepares a variety of food items using kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, food processors, blenders and fryers
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties including cleaning refrigeration units and floors
  • Maintains kitchen, teppan cooking areas and equipment ensuring cleanliness and organization
  • Complies with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes, and service cycle
  • Prepares foods according to portions standards and recipe specifications
  • Presents food with proper presentation and garnishes
  • Handles, stores and rotates food following health and safety regulations
  • Uses kitchen tools to prepare food items
  • Adheres to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Maintains a clean, neat appearance and courteous manner with guests
  • Notifies manager on duty immediately of any guest dissatisfaction or accidents
  • Participates in special occasion celebrations and may photograph with guests
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
