Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Benihana chef training program
  • Previous cooking or chef experience preferred
  • Ability to engage and entertain guests during the cooking process
  • Availability to work flexible shifts including nights and weekends
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen duties
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Readily provides guests with information about Benihana foods
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using a variety of kitchen equipment
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning of refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
  • Maintains kitchen, teppan cooking areas, kitchen equipment and food storage areas clean, sanitary and organized
  • Prepares foods according to company standards including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
  • Handles, stores, labels and rotates foods properly in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Uses knives, hand tools and equipment to portion, cut, slice, julienne, whip, beat and maintain holding temperature
  • Adheres to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Presents a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner
  • Notifies manager on duty of guest dissatisfaction or accidents
  • Participates in guest special occasion celebrations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor
