Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as a chef or cook preferred
  • Ability to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Ability to follow company policies and procedures
  • Must comply with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required in kitchen environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as a chef or cook highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to perform cooking demonstrations and engage guests
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Readily provides guests with information about Benihana foods
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preferences and follows their instructions
  • Prepares meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using various kitchen equipment
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units and floors
  • Maintains kitchen, cooking areas, and equipment clean, sanitary, and organized
  • Reports kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to management
  • Adheres to company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, recipes, and presentation
  • Handles and rotates food properly following public health safety standards and FIFO method
  • Uses knives and utensils for food preparation
  • Adheres to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Presents a clean and neat appearance and uses courteous manners with guests
  • Notifies management immediately if guests are unsatisfied or if accidents occur
  • Participates in ensuring guest special occasion celebrations are memorable
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
