  • previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • perform a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • provide guests with information about Benihana foods upon inquiry
  • respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • ask guests for cooking preferences and follow instructions
  • prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using various kitchen equipment
  • perform shift opening and closing duties as assigned by the manager
  • maintain kitchen, teppan cooking areas, kitchen equipment and food storage areas clean, sanitary and organized
  • adhere to company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes and service cycle
  • prepare foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
  • follow proper food handling, labeling and rotation in accordance with public health safety and FIFO method
  • use knives, hand tools and equipment to portion, cut, slice, whip, and prepare food
  • present food properly with correct garnishes
  • adhere to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • maintain a clean and neat appearance and use courteous manners with guests
  • notify manager on duty immediately about guest dissatisfaction or accidents
  • participate in special occasion celebrations and photograph guests if requested
  • perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
