Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and guest interaction skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends

  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Readily provides guests with information about Benihana foods
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preference and follows instructions
  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using various kitchen equipment
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
  • Maintains kitchen, teppan cooking areas, kitchen equipment and food storage areas clean, sanitary and organized
  • Reports kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the chief chef or manager on duty
  • Complies with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes, storyboards, service cycle, policies and procedures
  • Prepares foods according to company’s portion standards and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
  • Adheres to proper food presentation and garnishes guidelines
  • Handles, stores, labels and rotates foods properly in accordance with health safety and local laws
  • Uses knives, hand tools, utensils and equipment to portion, cut, slice, julienne, whip, beat, maintain temperature, chill, freeze or otherwise produce food for dining
  • Adheres to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Presents a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner
  • Immediately notifies MOD when guests are not satisfied or if an accident occurs
  • Participates in guest special occasion celebrations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
