Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to successfully complete Benihana chef training program
- Previous experience as a chef or cook preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a dynamic environment
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Commitment to maintaining hygiene and safety standards

Job Duties
- Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
- Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
- Provides guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiry
- Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
- Asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
- Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using kitchen equipment
- Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
- Maintains kitchen, cooking areas, equipment and food storage areas in a clean and sanitary condition
- Reports kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to chief chef or manager
- Complies with standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes and policies
- Prepares foods according to portion and recipe specifications including battering, breading and marinating
- Presents food with proper garnishes and presentation
- Handles, stores, labels, and rotates foods properly following safety regulations and FIFO methods
- Uses knives and utensils for food preparation
- Adheres to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
- Maintains a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner with guests
- Notifies manager on duty of guest dissatisfaction or accidents promptly
- Participates in ensuring guest special occasion celebrations are memorable
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
