  • Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Perform cooking shows for assigned tables ensuring appropriate and courteous interaction
  • Provide guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiry
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Ask guests for cooking preferences and follow instructions
  • Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using various kitchen equipment
  • Perform shift opening and closing duties including cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts, and floors
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, teppan cooking areas, equipment, and food storage areas
  • Comply with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality, recipes, service cycle, and policies
  • Prepare foods according to portion and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning, and marinating
  • Adhere to guidelines on food presentation and garnishes
  • Handle, store, label, and rotate foods properly following public health safety and FIFO methods
  • Use knives, tools, and equipment to prepare food for the dining room
  • Adhere to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Present a clean and neat appearance and use courteous manner with guests
  • Notify management immediately when guests are unsatisfied or if an accident occurs
  • Participate in guest special occasion celebrations and assist with photography as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
